We have additional products specially selected to complement our ranges of Natural Silks and Coloured Silks.

After a long and hard search we have found pure Silk Wadding that is ideal when used for quilting silk. We have a range of Ribbons and Silk Threads selected with the embroiderer in mind. We also stock a range of items ideal for the experimental embroiderer such as Silk Rods, Silk Cocoons, Silk Throwsters Waste and Mulberry Bark.

We stock an unusual range of Scarves and Necklace Scarves, most of which we have selected and imported directly ourselves, which are ideal for a gift or for self indulgence.

Finally, we can supply Gift Tokens of any value as a present.

SILK WADDING Pure Silk Wadding is lightweight yet warm, easy to quilt and handles beautifully. It is a must for any quilters using pure silk in their work. Pure silk wadding is also essential for constructing a quilted jacket. RIBBON Silk ribbon can be used for ribbon embroidery, embellishments, card making, etc. Silk ribbon is available in ivory or spaced dyed. Our ivory ribbon can be used as it is, or you can dye it to meet your colour requirements. In ivory, our pure silk ribbon is available in the following widths: 3.5 mm - £0.65 per metre 7 mm - £0.80 per metre Our space dyed pure silk ribbon is available in 2 mm width only, at £0.65 per metre. SILK THREAD We stock a range of Stef Francis space dyed threads.
Medium Braided Silk Thread Braided Thread is a woven round a central core and is very strong. It can be used in embroidery, where the effect is of a proud stitch, to make tassels, and in craft work, such as necklaces. Medium Braided Silk Thread is space dyed by Stef Francis. AA Superfine Silk Thread AA Superfine Silk Thread is a very fine, space dyed thread suitable for fine embroidery. AA Superfine Silk Thread is space dyed by Stef Francis. Contact us for colours and availability. A skein of space dyed AA Superfine Silk thread is approx 80 m long and costs £2.70

12 Ply Stranded Silk Thread 12 Ply Stranded Silk is a stranded, space dyed thread that can be split into a number of finer threads as required. YLI We stock YLI Silk sewing thread in ivory only. This is suitable for both hand and machine quilting and for general stitching. A reel of ivory YLI Silk thread is approx 200 m long and costs £5.95.

SILK RODS Silk Carrier Rods are a by-product of silk thread production. They contain natural gum which makes them rigid, although once wet they can be ironed flat or split into more pliable layers. They are suitable for providing texture in embroidery or for creative textile work. We stock Silk Carrier Rods in ivory or dyed by Stef Francis. Contact us for colours and availability. SILK COCOONS Silk Cocoons are the original cocoons spun by the silk moth. Ours have had the ends removed. They are suitable for providing texture in embroidery, or the can be embellished by stitching beads, sequins of threads into them. They are ideal for 3 dimensional work or can be strung together to form a necklace. We stock Silk Cocoons in ivory or dyed by Stef Francis. Contact us for colours and availability. SILK THROWSTERS WASTE Silk Throwsters Waste is a further by-product of silk production. It consists of a bundle of fibres of varying length. It can be teased out or used to give texture in embroidery by being couched down. It can also be used to make silk paper. We stock Silk Throwsters Waste in ivory or dyed by Stef Francis. MULBERRY BARK Mulberry Bark is the bark of the mulberry tree. It is textured and can be stitched into as part of an embroidery or experimental piece. The pack of Mulberry Bark contains 1 piece of bark approximately 25cm x 20cm (10” x 8”). We stock Mulberry Bark in its natural, unbleached form, in bleached form or space dyed by Stef Francis. The bleached and unbleached versions are £2.75 per pack and the space dyed ones are £4.50.

SILK PINS We stock very fine, stainless steel pins suitable for using with silk. A box weighing 50 grams costs £5.95 per box.

3 POINT SILK PINS We stock 3 point pins suitable for attaching silk to be painted to a wooden frame. A box containing approximately 100 pins costs £2.75 per box.

AUTOFADE PENS We stock Autofade pens which can be used to mark out silk for quilting or other applications, where the ink will become invisible in time. Autofade Pens cost £3.50 each.

SCARVES & NECKLACE SCARVES Habotai Scarves We stock white, medium weight, Habotai Silk Scarves. These have hand-rolled edges and are suitable for painting and dyeing. We stock 2 sizes. 90cm x 90cm (35.5” x 35.5”) at £6.50 each 150cm x 40cm (59” x 15”) at £6.50 each
Scrunchie Silk Scarves We stock a range of Scrunchie Silk Scarves imported from Turkey especially for The Silk Route. We stock a wide range of colours in different designs. Contact us for colours and availability. Most Scrunchie Silk Scarves are 150cm x 50cm (59" x 20") although sizes vary. Silk Scrunchie Scarves cost £13.50 each.
Silk / Cashmere Scarves We stock a range of unusual, long silk, Turkish scarves suitable for both casual and formal wear. Currently we have silk/cashmere scarves in stock. Contact us for styles and colours. Silk/cashmere scarves are £19.50 each.
Silk Chiffon Scarves We have a range of Turkish, printed Silk Chiffon Scarves, which have a hint of silver on one side and gold on the other. Contact us for colours and availability. The scarves are 152cm x 66cm (60” x 26”) and cost £9.95 each.
Net Necklace Scarves Net Necklace Scarves are a 60cm (24”) square which, when folded corner to corner and tied in a knot at the back of the neck, can brighten up a T-shirt or complement a plain or open necked top. They are made of Rayon. Please note that these necklace scarves are not washable. Net Necklace Scarves are £7.50 each.
