Terms And Conditions


In order to place an order with us on this website you are asked to agree to these Terms and Conditions. Please read them carefully.




Prices quoted on our website are in Pounds Sterling and include value added tax (VAT) at the prevailing rate set by the UK government.  VAT is separated out and shown separately during the Checkout process.  Deliveries outside the UK and European Community do not incur VAT, but this is only deducted during the Checkout process (we only know where you live when you enter this process).  You will see the details before you commit payment.

Should your order be delivered to an address outside the European Community your country’s customs authorities may impose import duties, which are entirely your responsibility.

Postage and packing is charged in addition to the price of the goods.  Rates vary depending on the delivery location and can be found in our Price List section.  Postage and packing is subject to VAT.  The value being charged can be seen during the Checkout process before you commit payment.




Payment for goods ordered through this website can be paid by credit or debit cards (MasterCard Credit, Visa Credit, Visa Debit, Visa Electron, Maestro and JCB).  Payment will be taken in Pounds Sterling.  Should your card normally state transactions in another currency (e.g. Euros, US Dollars) your card company will convert transactions from this website when you are billed by them.


Should you be unhappy in submitting your card details to our secure payment process or wish to pay by other means, e.g. by cheque drawn on a UK bank, please contact us by post, telephone or email.




All of our products are offered for sale subject to availability.


We aim to despatch your order promptly and usually within 5 working days, although this may occasionally not be met.  Should the product ordered be out of stock or unavailable we will contact you immediately.  Where stock is expected you will have the option to cancel your order if you would rather not wait.


Delivery will normally be by Royal Mail post.   Normal Royal Mail deliveries are not tracked.  Should you wish your parcel to be sent by Royal Mail Signed For, Royal Mail Special Delivery or courier for UK deliveries or by International Tracked/Signed/Tracked and Signed (depending upon the country) or by courier for overseas deliveries, please contact us directly for the appropriate additional rates.


Returns Policy


We hope that you will be totally happy with our products.  However, please examine products received before cutting, stitching, etc. as claims will not be accepted after the silk has been cut, stitched, etc.  No claims can be accepted in respect of any costs of making up. 


However, should one of our products be faulty please return it in the state originally supplied (e.g. uncut, not sewn, etc.) and with the original packaging and we will replace it immediately or refund your money as you require.


Should you wish to return any product for any other reason we will normally replace or substitute the product or refund the cost of the product.  Under the UK Distance Selling Regulations and the Consumer Contracts (information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations customers within the EEC (including the UK) have the right to change their minds and cancel or change orders.  However, to exercise your rights you need to give us written notice (by letter or email) within 14 days of receipt of the product.  You will be wholly responsible for the cost of delivery and safe return of the product.  Returned goods should be in the state originally supplied (e.g. uncut, not sewn, etc.) and with the original packaging.  Refunds, less our original postage and packing charges, will normally be made within 7 days.

Security of Payments


We use the facilities of Worldpay (previously owned by the Royal Bank of Scotland and one of the largest merchant acquirers globally) to process our On-line shopping transactions.  Worldpay provides secure, fully encrypted payment services that fully meet the international Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards.  Worldpay does not pass any of your card details to us, only the fact that payment has been authorised.




Our products


Silk is a natural fibre.  The weaving of this fabric may therefore contain minor variations and irregularities.  These are inherent characteristics of silk yarn and part of its beauty and allure.  These characteristics are entirely natural and should, in no way, be considered as defects.


Other than our range of natural silk that is to be prepared for dyeing, silk fabric should not be washed as this will remove the dressing and therefore the silk’s crispness.  Our silk should be professionally dry-cleaned where essential cleaning is necessary.  However, we do not guarantee the results of dry-cleaning (nor do many dry-cleaners!)  It is not necessary to wash silk prior to quilting.  Where natural silk is being prepared for dyeing it may be washed gently in warm water and ironed with a cool iron while still wet


The dyes used in the production of coloured silk, especially strong colours such as red, are not always colourfast.  There is a risk of fading from prolonged exposure to light.  We always recommend lining and interlining when making curtains using a protection on the leading edge of the curtain.


Due to inherent production processes the sizes that we state on our website or labels are notional/approximate and may vary slightly from that stated.  Sizes stated may include the selvedge.


Should it be necessary to iron silk fabric use a cool iron only on the reverse side with a pressing cloth.


Re-ordering and colour matching


Most of our items we hold in stock, and can re-order when stocks are low.  However, part of our range is one-off stock and when stock is finished we are unable to order more.  When ordering, should you believe that you may want further supplies please ask at the time whether repeat orders are possible.


As silk is woven to order (and the threads dyed to specific colours for each weaving), subsequent deliveries may be from a different batch and there may be slight colour variations between deliveries.  Should you want exact matching of colours please ensure that you order sufficient at the time. 


The Silk that I received is a different colour from that which is displayed on your website


Silk, especially shot silk and silk brocades, is difficult to photograph as often the colour appears to change when the light falls on it from different angles.  That is part of the beauty of silk!  Also, the same photograph will look different on different computer screens due to the technology used, the screen settings and the age of the monitor.  If the silk that you received is totally wrong for you requirements please return it to us uncut, and in its original packaging, and we will replace it with something more suitable or refund the cost of the silk.  (See our Returns Policy.)


It if is important that you match an exact shade please send us a snippet, or a colour sample for us to match.  We can also supply samples of the various silks in a particular colour range.
